AgeCamp 2016 is the first national Unconference for older people and those who work with older people.
There is no set agenda, at the beginning of the day, attendees pitch sessions on topics they want to run and the rest of the delegates vote on those they want to attend.
AgeCamp will be about solving problems, launching new ideas, getting support for projects, forging collaborations, testing products, or whatever else you want to discuss.
This will be an opportunity for anyone who works with older people (and older people themselves) to get together in a mutually supportive environment, discuss their issues and plan joint responses. And, this is meant in no way to be an event which focuses exclusively on technology. Any issues about working with older people are open for discussion. So, if you want to re-invent the care home, or start a community minibus service, all topics are welcome.
Thanks to our main sponsors, Calderdale Council and UKGovCamp, the event will take place at The Shay Stadium, Halifax West Yorkshire. Directions to the venue are on the Stadium’s website. Halifax is just off the M62 motorway, or 35 minutes from Leeds or 45 minutes from Manchester (Victoria) by train. As the event is on a Monday, why not make a weekend of it and visit the sights of beautiful West Yorkshire, home of the Brontës, “Last Tango in Halifax”, “Happy Valley” and “Last of the Summer Wine”?
