As a result of the momentum generated by AgeCamp 2016, I am now in the process of establishing Ageing Digital as a social enterprise with a mission “to bust the myth that older people don’t use new technologies”. You can follow Ageing Digital on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.

One of the ideas that Ageing Digital is currently exploring is holding an Ageing Hackathon. If you don’t know what a Hakathon is, there’s a pretty good explanation here. In summary, what we would be looking at is an event lasting (probably) two days at which a group of people would come together, agree on some big problems concerning ageing that they wish to find solutions to, and spend the rest of the time working on agreed solutions.

I’d welcome comments below on:

  • Is this a good idea?
  • Has anything similar been done before?
  • What are the issues we should be working on?
  • Are there potential technology solutions to the big ageing problems?
  • Would you be interested in sponsoring the event (we need sponsorship for; running costs; venue hire; food and drink; prizes for the best solutions).

I look forward to hearing what you think.
